ELEC 226, Spring 2009
Prof. Rich Kozick

Homework 12

Date Assigned: Friday, April 17, 2009
Date Due: Monday, April 27, 2009 in class at 9:00 AM

  1. Reading: Please continue to study Chapter 8, all sections. Also, please review Chapter 12 on Laplace transforms. Most of this material should be familiar to you from MATH 212, but pay particular attention to the definition of poles and zeros in Section 12.8.

Study Chapter 13 on circuit analysis in the s-domain. The main idea in Chapter 13 is that a circuit can be transformed into the s-domain, and then all of the circuit analysis methods that we studied in Chapters 1-5 can be applied. The s-domain also provides important insights for system analysis and design through the transfer function, poles, and zeros.

  2. Final Exam: The ELEC 226 final exam will be take-home and due by 11 AM on Wednesday, May 6. The exam will be available on Friday, May 1, and you can submit your solution electronically if you leave campus before May 6. The exam will be posted on Blackboard and you will receive an email message as soon as it is available on May 1.

  3. The report for Lab 6 is due by 4 PM on Thursday, April 23.

  4. Please solve the following problems and submit your solutions in class on April 27. You can solve all of the problems (including Chapter 8) using Laplace transforms, if you would like.
    Chapter 8: Problems 1, 6, 30, 37, and 45.
    Chapter 13: Problems 10 and 17.

** The Chapter 13 problems are extra credit, and Laplace transforms will not be included on the final exam. **

Thank you.
