ELEC 225, Fall 2012

Homework 8

Date Assigned: Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Date Due: Monday, October 22, 2012

  1. Reading: In the Ulaby/Maharbiz text, please continue to study Chapter 4, Sections 4-1 through 4-7.

  2. Labs:

  3. Please solve the following problems in Chapter 4 of the textbook and submit solutions in class on Monday, Oct. 22.
    Problems 4.9, 4.11, 4.12, 4.13, 4.20, 4.21, 4.25, 4.26, and 4.27.
Use the ideal op amp assumptions in all of these problems. When a value is given for Vcc, the op amp is supplied with +Vcc and -Vcc. In these problems, assume that the op amp output achieves the entire range from -Vcc to +Vcc. Real op amps are limited to a smaller output voltage range, as you observed in lab.

You should solve the problems using circuit analysis instead of matching with a "standard circuit" and using a formula from the textbook. (However, if you can match with a standard circuit, you may want to check your result!) None of the problems require solving simultaneous equations. Look for voltage dividers to simplify the analysis.

  4. Please see the Lab 4 description and find the input-output relationship for the op amp circuits in Figures 2, 3, 4, and 5. Bring your results to Lab 4 on Oct. 23 or 25, and it will be part of your Lab 4 report. Please do this analysis before class on Monday, Oct. 22, and we will discuss and answer your questions.

  5. Since Homework 8 is due on a Monday, Kathy Olsen will be available for a help session on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 7 PM in Dana 305 (and there is no session on Tuesday, Oct. 23).
Thank you.
