The exam will be closed-book and closed-notes, and will cover the topics from homework assignments 1 through 4 and lab 2 (not PSpice). Please bring your calculator to the exam. The specific topics include the following.

• Basic quantities: voltage, charge, current, energy, power, passive sign convention for power (p = v i).
• Ideal voltage and current sources (independent and dependent, "valid" connections).
• Using Kirchhoff's current law (KCL) and Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) to analyze circuits.
• Resistors: Ohm's law (with sign convention), equivalent resistors (series, parallel, delta-wye), voltage dividers, current dividers, bridge circuits.
  Formulas will be provided for delta-wye transformations. Are there other formulas that would be helpful?
• Thevenin equivalent circuit models (as in Lab 2 and Homework 4).

• In the Nilsson/Riedel text, please continue to study Chapter 4, Sections 4.1-4.4 (node-voltage method), 4.5-4.8 (mesh-current method), and Sections 4.9-4.11 (Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits).
• Please review Appendix A and be sure that you can solve linear simultaneous equations. You will be able to use your calculator on the exams.

Chapter 3: Problem 3.53.

Equations (3.47), (3.48), (3.49) on page 74: Show how these equations are derived from Figure 3.31.
Hint: Short-circuit each pair of terminals (a-b, b-c, a-c), then equate conductances (G) in the Delta and Y circuits. Also, see Problem 3.62.

Chapter 4: Problems 63 and 69 (Thevenin model).
