1. Exam 2 will be on Monday, November 10. The exam will be closed-book and closed-notes, and will emphasize the topics from homework assignments 5 through 8 (Chapters 4 and 5). The specific topics include the following:
   • Circuit analysis with the mesh-current method (and node-voltage method)
   • Source transformations
   • Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits
   • Power delivered to a load and maximum power transfer
   • Superposition
   • Operational amplifier circuits
     • Useful circuits, such as buffer (or voltage follower, isolation amplifier), inverting amp., noninverting amp., summing amp., difference amp.
     • Ideal model for circuits with negative feedback
     • Conditions for saturation
     • More realistic model with finite gain, finite input resistance, and nonzero output resistance

2. Reading: In the Nilsson/Riedel text, please continue to study Chapter 6 and begin studying Chapter 9 for Nov. 12.

3. Please solve the following problems and submit solutions on November 12:

   Chapter 6: Problems 20 and 39.

4. Advising notes:
   • We have arranged sessions that will be conducted by the Career Development Center (CDC) staff to help you find internships for the summer of 2009. The sessions will be on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 9-10 AM and 1-2 PM in Dana 307. We do not have ELEC 225 lab on that day.

     The CDC also offers "Internships 101" every Wednesday at noon in the CDC (Botany Building along 7th Street). This is a 30 minute overview session that explains how to get started and the various steps in an internship search. The CDC has a web site for internships:

   • Remember to use the wait list for required courses that may have a time conflict with other course you plan to take.
   • You will take two W2 courses as part of the EE curriculum.
